🛒 Buying and selling players

The transfer market is where club owners shape their squads beyond the academy. You can buy and sell players directly inside Footium, review their age, ratings and potential, and decide whether they fit your tactics now or your long-term plan.

The in-game transfer market is available at:

You do not need a crypto wallet to play Footium or to spend money in it. The transfer market lets you top up your in-game balance by card. If you already have ETH, you can also use it, but it is optional.

What to check before buying

When browsing players, look at more than the headline rating. The market shows key information including:

  • Position
  • Age
  • Current rating
  • Used and remaining potential
  • Whether the player is registered or unregistered

Age matters because all players retire from playing at 32, with their final playing season at 31. A veteran may help immediately, but a younger player with remaining potential may be more valuable across several seasons.

Potential is also important. Every training improvement uses one potential. Normal players spawn with 15 to 25 total potential, while Rare and Legendary players spawn with 30 to 40. A player with lots of used potential may already be close to their developed level. A player with remaining potential gives you more control over their future.

Also check stamina and leadership. Stamina affects how quickly a player loses condition during matches. Leadership affects how useful they are as captain.

Registered and unregistered players

Registration status is critical. An unregistered player is a free agent and can be added to your squad immediately. A registered player is tied to another club.

If you buy a registered player during a closed window or limited window, they remain at the selling club until the next unlimited registration window opens, unless the current club unregisters them during a limited window. They can still play for their current club, but they cannot train. A red icon appears on the selling club's Players page to show they will leave when the next unlimited window opens.

If you want a player you can use straight away during the season, make sure they are unregistered.

How to buy a player

  1. Go to the Transfer Market.
  2. Top up your balance if you are paying by card.
  3. Use filters to find players by role, rating, age, potential and registration status.
  4. Click into the player's profile and double-check their details.
  5. Confirm the purchase in-game.
  6. Register the player if they are unregistered and you want to use them immediately.

During the season, the market automatically defaults to showing free agents so you do not accidentally buy someone you cannot use straight away. You can still toggle the filter if you want to view registered players.

How to sell a player

To list a player:

  1. Go to the Transfer Market.
  2. Open the Club Hub tab.
  3. Select the player you want to sell.
  4. Choose a fixed listing price in ETH.
  5. Choose a listing duration of 3, 5 or 7 days.
  6. Confirm the listing.

There are no auctions for normal transfer listings. They are fixed-price sales.

Players remain registered to your club unless you unregister them during the correct type of window. You can sell a registered player, but the buyer may not be able to register or use them until the next unlimited window. Unregistered players are often more attractive because buyers can use them immediately.

If you intend to sell players for immediate use by other clubs, plan ahead. During pre-season, the unlimited window lets you unregister and register as many players as you like. There are also two limited windows during the season, and in each one a club can unregister up to 3 players.

Always use the in-game Footium page as the most accurate source of registration status, especially if you are also checking external marketplaces.
